I have studied both digital and film photography as well as photo history. I have a great deal of knowledge about photo editing and have written the source code for a wide variety of tools and effects. I have also taught as a teaching assistant for photography at the University of Washington.

I was first inspired by soaring turkey vultures in Baja California where I developed a passion for wildlife photography. This passion has persisted throughout my life as I have gone on to photograph birds, whales, elephants and even lemurs.

As I began more serious studies of photography I fell in love with another genre, portraiture. This genre is uniquely powerful and includes my largest project to date: FIXATIONS, focusing on how we live our obsessions in life - how they consume us and how they ultimately shape our identity. This project includes my photograph “Model” which won a National Gold Medal for Photography in the Scholastic Art and Writing awards.

Through my travels to over 30 countries I have developed a love for travel photography. I never travel without a camera and photography has enabled me to experience, appreciate and share what I see.
